TANGENT EXPERIMENT
OBJECTIVE : To use the tangent ratio to calculate the angle of inclination of
a) the wheelchair ramp
b) a set of stairs inside the school
c) a set of stairs outside the school

PART A : The Ramp
Pick a section of the ramp. Measure the vertical (y)
and horizontal (x) distances between the ends of the
section to the nearest mm. Repeat for two other sections. Enter the data in the table and calculate the average angle of inclination correct to 1 decimal place.

PART B : The Inside Stairs
Pick an inside staircase. At three different steps, measure
the vertical (y) and horizontal (x) lengths correct to the
nearest mm. Record the results in the table below and calculate
the average angle of inclination at A, correct to 1 decimal.

PART C : The Outside Stairs
Please use the stairs at the front of the school .The measurements are done as you did the inside stairs.
