This neat little trick uses an interesting combination of CSS attributes:

• The ability to specify the characteristics of the border of a table cell (width, solidness, and color)
• The ability to change those characteristics when the cell contains a link. This is done by using the "hover" function.

Notice that the colors for top/left and bottom/right are reversed when the hover function is engaged.

Here are the results:

• In IE5, the top table looks best.
• In Navigator 6.1, the bottom table looks best.
• In Navigator 4.x, nothing looks good at all.
