The Expansion: [Top]

Its free - You already have this if you own the original Milton Bradley Axis & Allies game.

I was looking at my map the other day and thought of this. I am playing an PBEM game with someone in the AOL league (January 1998). One of my tactical moves includes the invasion of South America from New Zealand. The map considers the four boxes in the lower right hand corner to be the edge of the map. New Zealand's sea zone is adjacent to the sea zones beside Peru and Argentina-Chile.

I looked at these four boxes and considered the fact that I never use them. The land forces and sea forces in the south Pacific are mostly small or non existant for the land and the sea forces when they enter these islands can easily coexist with the small armies.

The Beauty: This expansion costs nothing, and is easily done. It also opens up the south Pacific as a new zone of Operations. The added IPCs in the Pacific give the powers an incentive to fight over and control these territories.

What it is: The Axis&Allies map has four island groups in boxes at the bottom right hand of the map/board. New Zealand, 2 South Pacific sea zones, and the sea zone beside Peru are neighbours of these four.

What to do: First look at the map and return to this page. [To Map] This expansion renames these boxes Borneo-Celebes is now Caledonia; New Guinea is now Fiji; Caroline Islands is now Marquesas; Solomon Islands is now Easter Island

What is this expansion: Originally this box area is just for the placement of large armies and to distinguish an army from a naval force in the island sea zone. Movement through this box has been that the New Zealand sea zone is taken to be adjacent to the sea zone beside Peru and Chile-Argentina and to the sea zone along the bottom left hand corner of the map (only touching Chile-Argentina and stretching into the Atlantic). TAS to JFI and SCO on the map.

This expansion turns these boxes into actual map territories and sea zones. On the map TAS now touches the Caledonia sea zone and the Fiji sea zone as well as the POL, SOS, COR and GAB sea zones. Each territory is an island territory surrounded by a sea zone, like Wake, or Hawaii. Caledonia and Easter Island sea zones do not touch! It requires two moves to cross from one to the next via either the Fiji or Marquesas sea zones. Similarly Marquesas and Fiji sea zones do not touch, and the POL and Marquesas sea zones do not touch, and SPO and Caledonia sea zones do not touch.

How it works: Place UK markers on Caledonia, Fiji and Marquesas, and place one token upsidedown (white side up) to represent Neutral Easter Island (part of Chile).

Place 1 USSR Infantry on Kazahkstan
Place 1 German Submarine in the sea zone south west of South Africa (touching Angola and South Africa) [CGH].
Place 1 UK Transport in the Marquesas sea zone.
Place 1 Japanese Submarine in the Fiji sea zone.
Place 1 US Infantry on Brazil.

New Territory IPC production:
1 IPC for Caledonia,
1 IPC for Fiji,
0 IPCs for Marquesas,
0 IPCs for Easter Island

Existing Island IPC changes:
Borneo was 1 is now 2 IPCs,
East Indies was 2 is now 3 IPCs,
Solomons was 0 is now 1 IPC,
Midway was 0 is now 1 IPC,

New Incomes USSR was 24 is 24
Germany was 32 is 32
UK was 30 is now 32
Japan was 25 is now 28
USA was 36 is now 37 IPCs

Axis was 57 is now 60 Allies was 90 is now 93

Economic Victory is now 90 IPCs.

New Production:

After the Soviet first turn the USSR gets a 2 IPC bonus. After the German first turn Germany gets a 4 IPC bonus.

The UK, Japan and the USA all have increased production.

The Production Schedule [Top]

This is optional to the South East Pacific Expansion, it could be used without the SEP in the regular game too!

In order to make the game a bit more exciting and to bring a few more historical battles into the game I have come up with this production schedule. At the end of each power's turn these units are added to the whatever units the power purchased.

At the end of each nation's turn place these units on the map.

1 USSR: 1 Infantry on Kazakhstan. (or 2 IPCs)
1 Germany: 1 Infantry on Western Europe. (2)
1 UK: 1 Infantry on Eastern Canada. (2)
1 Japan: 1 Infantry on Philippines. (2)
1 USA: 1 Infantry on Mexico. (2)

2 USSR: 1 Infantry on Evenki NO. (2)
2 Germany: 1 Submarine in Southern Europe sea zone [CMO]. (4)
2 UK: 1 Transport in Western USA sea zone [WCO]. (4)
2 Japan: 1 Submarine in Japan sea zone [SJA]. (4)
2 USA: 1 Infantry in Panama . (2)

3 USSR: - 1 Fighter on Russia. (6)
3 Germany: 1 Fighter on Germany. (6)
3 UK: 1 Fighter on UK. (6)
3 Japan: 1 Fighter on Philippines. (6)
3 USA: 1 Battleship in Gulf of Mexico [GOM]. (12)

4 USSR: 1 Infantry on Russia. (2)
4 Germany: 1 Battleship in Southern Europe sea zone [CMO]. (12)
4 UK: 1 Transport in Eastern Canada sea zone [LAB]. (4)
4 Japan: 1 Transport in Japan sea zone. 1 Fighter on Japan. (4)
4 USA: 1 Transport in West Coast sea zone [WOC]. (4)

The IPC values of the units total 180; 90 for both the Axis and the Allies.

A player has the option of placing the unit at the end of his turn or of trading the unit in for half of its IPC value (value in brackets). These IPCs can be used for purchases the next turn.
